| Rob Lets delve into the character design evolution for Rob, shall we? Ep. 0: Day of the Devil (click for detailed commentary) This was the first animation I did in the Siblings series. Also, it was rushed, so a lot of the drawings in this episode are really rushed and shitty. When I go back and watch this, I usually laugh about how bad and inconsistent many of the drawings are. Ep. 1: Runesuck (click for detailed commentary)
I spent two weeks on this one, so I was able to put more effort into making the drawings look much better. While the style is much more defined here, there are still a few weird drawings I did that don't make much sense. It better reflected my style at that point, at least. Ep. 2: Don't Wake Robby (click for detailed commentary)
I got really ambitious with this episode, and it shows. Not only was it double the length of episode 1, but it involved a lot of dream sequences. I drew a lot of new cells of Rob for the dream sequences. I liked the new cells so much that many of them are reused for the next two episodes. Ep. 3: Dog Daze of Boredom (click for detailed commentary)
I drew so many cells for episode 2 that I focused all my attention on the backgrounds and animating Spike in episode 3. For Rob, I just ended up reusing old cells from the first two episodes, editing them when I needed to. "Pop a Cap!", the first mini-episode, just reused angles from older episodes, so there's no need to mention it. Episode 4: Half Beard (click for detailed commentary)
This episode reuses a lot of old cells like episode 3 did, but I tried to add more dynamic shading to the outside shots to make them look interesting. I also tried to make the animation itself look better and more fluent, focusing less on drawing original angles. Episode 5: Not-the-Final Fantasy XII (click for detailed commentary)
I finally decided I was tired of reusing angles I had made in previous episodes. I put my foot down and forced myself to redraw all the characters from scratch to keep the series from getting dull for me. I have to say they're among the best I've drawn yet since I used a lot of photo references to make the characters. I also updated some of their skintones so they aren't all the same color. This led to Rob becoming a little more pink. Mini-Episode 2: Heinous Anus Zone
This one continues the notion set by episode 5, introducing a few newly revised angles, as well as small updates to the existing ones.
Sits in the same boat as HAZ, but nothing was revised in this. I only spent a month making this, so I had to focus more on finishing it than pushing the style in different directions. The animation itself became a bit more fluid, though. |
